Jack is almost 7 months!!

Where has the time gone? Jack will be 7 months old in one week! He's so much more alert with his surroundings and gets bored easily! We are still using the baby swing but he doesn't like it too much if he's awake. Naps are pretty much obsolete! He cat-naps, sleeps 10-15 minutes stretches and that's if you're holding him!

We bought a little high chair that snaps onto the counter & started using it last week. He loves it. Most of the time he wants to sit there and play with his toys and he'll do it for a long time. Other times he just doesn't want to sit in it at all and there's no way you're putting him in it!! LOL

A few days ago, maybe last Thursday or Friday, he started trying to push up on his hands and knees. He's made progress since then and can get up pretty high now. I can't remember if they sit first or crawl first - the girls seem like such a blur and I really wish I would have kept a journal or something with them so I could remember.

He's eating fruits and vegetables. We started him about 6 months old, maybe a week before the 6 month mark. He loves squash and peaches but not really anything else. Getting him to eat the other things are challenging, but he does pretty well.

He drools often. The other day, me and Abby were sitting on the couch and she wanted to hold Jack. When I raised him up to sit him in her lap, she freaked out, the slobbers were about to drip on her and she looked pretty frightened and gross out!! LOL

His eyes are still blue. Not sure they'll stay blue, but maybe. He wrinkles his nose too when he looks at something or someone. It's cute. Last week he was doing it and breathing in and out of his nose like a bull, it was so funny!! He kinda stopped the breathing thing but still wrinkles his nose.

And he's still chubby! His legs are huge and his little fingers look like vienna sausages (is that what they're called??)....his knuckles are dimpled too!! He can't sit up yet by himself but will sit for a second between my legs before falling forward or sideways.

He does want to be held ALL the time and it makes life a little more challenging as far as getting stuff done. But, I try to remember that this isn't going to last forever and someday I'll wish I could go back to the days when he just wanted me to hold him all the time. And I'll be sad when I can't. :(

schedule

So, I have this brilliant idea that I'm going to do a schedule for the family (albeit a shabby schedule, but a schedule nonetheless).  Hopefully it will reduce the chaos in our lives and bring some order to the house.  Not sure how accurately I've organized this or what modifications will need to be made but I guess I'll find out.  Now, of course, this will change once I'm in pharmacy school and away most of the day and Abby is in pre-K, but anyway, here's my plan at the moment:

7:45am - girls awake.  Everyone brushes teeth and hair and washes face.
8:15am - Eat breakfast.
8:45am - Girls get 1 hour of tv time while I check emails and feed Jack.
9:45am - Girls begin chores (make beds, pick up toys), I plan dinner menu (get food out to defrost or start meal in slow cooker) & get laundry on.
10:15am - Daily cleaning chores and lunch prep.
10:30am - Girls outside to play.
11:30am - Lunch & then clean up.
12:15pm - Jack nap routine (rock, read books)
12:30pm - Jack Nap.  Girls quiet time (reading, resting).

2:00pm - Fold and put away laundry.  Play time with girls (games, outings [library, zoo, park])
4:00pm - Girls snack time and free play.  Dinner prep.
5:30pm - Eat dinner.
6:00pm - Dinner clean up.
6:15pm - Kids clean up [put away any toys left out]
6:30pm - Jack bath [teeth brushed, hair combed, pj's on] while girls play.
7:00pm - Bedtime routine (snuggle time, books, milk) for Jack and Jack to bed.
7:30pm - Girls bath [teeth brushed, hair combed, pj's on].
8:15pm - Bedtime routine (read, snuggle, tuck in)
8:30pm - Girls in bed.  Free time for us [computer time, TV, reading, cleaning, snuggling, talking, etc]
10:00pm - Our bedtime routine [brush hair & teeth, floss, pj's on, etc]
10:15-10:30pm - Lights out.

SnowPallooZa!

Well, normally I don't take what the meteorologist says in Oklahoma as the gospel, but perhaps from now on I should at least heed his warnings.  We got hit hard Monday night!  The weather man was predicting 9-13 inches of snow and I thought "yea, right, we'll be lucky to get 5!"  I felt sort of stupid for asking Harrington to stop on his way home from work at Reasor's and pick up a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread (we were completely out of both and snow or no snow we needed those two things).  He called from the store and said they were sold out of milk, ALL milk and even sold out of all the bread...he said it looked like a war-zone.  He did manage to find the small 8-ounce bottles of whole milk and bought 6 of those but no bread.

Last night I could hear the sleet coming down and every once in a while some thunder.  So I knew it was coming....something was coming at least.

And this morning....wow!....we have snow as high as 4 feet in some areas!  We got 21" of snow!!!  How is that even possible!?
Here's a picture of the front door (the door is opened and this is our glass storm door:

The backyard is worse....the snow drifts come up to my shoulders in places!

The girls are so light in weight that they didn't even sink through the snow but crawled over the top of it....it was cute.

So I'm not sure how long this is going to take to melt but I have a feeling it's going to be quite a long time and we're suppose to get more on Monday again.  I think we're stuck in the house for a good week....hoping we have enough food!!  LOL

It's official

Abby will grow up to be a comedian.....okay, well, let's hope not but she's got a good start!

Her and her younger sister were in their bedroom playing, suddenly there was a scream from the younger one. Just as I was making my way in there, Abby ran out, instantly claiming "I did NOT pinch her!!". Hmmmm.....okay, sure, I totally believe you....NOT. She did, of course.

So, yea, is it just the age and she just couldn't remember what she did two seconds before?! That's what all the parenting books claim but I don't buy it. And actually, maybe it's not a comedian shell be but an attorney!!! Haha

Putting it all together...or trying to.

This blog creation has been a nightmare - it's literally taking me months!!  I do have to admit that I don't spend a lot of time doing it but just getting it set up the way I want it has been time consuming (creating the header, page colors, background colors, etc).  I'm obviously still not finished but it's getting there!

The name was hard too.  I pretty much used the letters from my youngest kids' names...one letter was used more than once and I came up with Bananas & Jellybeans.  I still don't like the name much but I guess it's okay - I'm so indecisive and fickle it's pathetic!!!  haha
